Jessica_BLUE Posted August 5, 2008 Posted August 5, 2008 Hi, everyone. im upgrading to FM9 server, and i just can´t figure out how to publish my database on the web, if i try in my network: http://192.168.1.190/fmi/iwp/res/iwp_home.html i can see it, but how do i get it on web, i had FM8 server, and the way i accessed was : http://factoria.tzo.com:16080/fmi/iwp/res/iwp_auth.html could anyone, get me a clue? thanks!
Steven H. Blackwell Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 First, you have to use FileMaker Server 9 Advanced for IWP. Depending on your OS, you then run either IIS or Apache as the web server. The FileMAker Server database engine communicates with the web server through the Web Publishing Engine. There is a lot of documentation on this found here. What is happening to you when you set this up and try to connect? Steven
Jessica_BLUE Posted August 6, 2008 Author Posted August 6, 2008 Hi Thanks for respond. im running filemaker server 9 advanced on Mac (apache) i test the IWP and i can see the database example, also i can see my database, http://192.168.1.190/fmi/iwp/res/iwp_home.html i have another server (windows) and it´s currently running a web server, so behind my router i need to change the default port(80) of the apache server, right? if i try to access from internet it appears a 404 error. im confused about how i have to set up the access to FM IWP, i used to have FM server 8, and the setup it´s different. thanks
Steven H. Blackwell Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 The master machine--the one with the database server--needs to know the IP address of both the Web Publishing engine and the web server in order for the system to work. So in the Console, click Edit Deployment and then assign the correct values based on the number of machines in the configuration: either 1 or 2 or 3 as the case may be. I'd recommend that you read the Getting Started Guide before doing anything else. Steven
