Print range of Pages?

Featured Replies

This will be a dumb question.

When I print in filemaker my PC always says from "Page 1 to 1" instead of having the button "All" clicked. When I change it it stays changed, until I relogin to Filemaker.

A Page Setup script step before printing has no effect on this.

Where does one specify what "pages" of the Printout should be printed by default?

Thanks

Filemaker 8.5v2

Hi Bob,

I have used an opener file in the past to force local printer setup features. If that is an option for you, it's worth a try.

It sounds like when you manually set the printer setup it works for the current session only, and with each new session the behavior reverts to before the last session. Which tells me somewhere in the solution, probably the state of the file before it was hosted is where this behavior comes from.

Hi Tim,

cool ! What is an opener file ?

Sponge

An opener file is a local file the user starts up on their desktop. Upon open it is set to perform a script to open the hosted file and in turn close itself (mine stays open throughout the session ~ minimized). In this file you set your default print setup. The point of this is that printer setup default can be set in this opener file and continue throughout the users session in filemaker as the default printer selection. On our network there are many print options and no two users are the same, this way I can set each to there own preference and also script the open remote step to the hosted file.

HTH,

Tim
