aldipalo Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 How do I retrieve a backup of my data file in FMS 9? I tried to re-upload the backup onto the existing file and got all kinds of error messages. What's the secret to retrieving the files? TIA Al
mr_vodka Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 Hi Al. I am not fully following you. Could you elaborate? If you have files being backed up and want to go to a backed up copy, you can stop the file from being served and then copy the backup file to the served diirectory that you have setup (or the default), then open the file to be served again.
aldipalo Posted August 7, 2008 Author Posted August 7, 2008 Hi John: I finally figured it out, I think. :qwery: I needed to copy over my backed up data file. I made a little mistake in an import and lost a few hundred records. Ooops! I tried to just copy over the backup to the fmnet:/folder/ and kept getting errors that the file was in use eeven though everyone had shut down and exited FM. After a while (I don't want to embarrass myself by saying how long "A while") I realized I needed to shut down FM in Services. Finally was able to copy the file over and get back to work. I thought there was a way in FM Console to just copy the back up to the active directory, but, I guess there isn't. No big deal, once you realize what needs to be done. In cases like this please refer to my primary motto below. Thanks anyway, John. Al
