10 page per layout limitation???

Featured Replies

I have a PDF (of a WORD file) that is 13 pages long. It is the manual entry form for the database, for those people that do not have, or are uncomfortable with, or cannot afford enough entry stations to support the user data collection community. Print and complete, with data entry later.

The DB uses multiple layouts and tabs within the layouts to get all the data collected. In paper form, this translates into different presentations (popup menus on paper are tough :-) so printing the on-screen input layouts is not practical.

Filemaker 9, appears to constrain the layout to 10 pages (actually 8000 pixels - a key differentiator) in portrait mode. The paper report is 13 pages long.

Alternatives?

1) Create 13 container fields, store the PDF images in these, and script a printout (if there is a way to even script the printing of the contents of a container field)

2) Create 2 or more layouts, with the PDF pages on them, and script the printing of the layouts.

3) Store the entire PDF in a single container field, and, if possible, print the PDF file stored in the container field.

4) Set the PDF pages to 50% and print at 200% from a single layout. (getting around the 8000 pixel limitation).

3 seems the most elegant, but I don't know how to print the contents of a container field. 1 and 2 are both kludgey.

Suggestions?? Is any alternative better than any other? Is there a better way?
