Jessica Posted February 6, 2001 Posted February 6, 2001 Hi, I'm trying to make a template for a report. If I make a couple of boxes (fields) then are the sizes always fixed when printing? Is there a way to dynamically shrink, so there is no huge blank spaces? Sometimes my context will short or long depending on topic. Thanks!
LiveOak Posted February 6, 2001 Posted February 6, 2001 In the layout mode, format menu (FM5), sliding/printing. -bd
john.daly Posted February 6, 2001 Posted February 6, 2001 You might want to consider using 'merge fields' (Insert - Merge Field) rather than field boxes.
Vaughan Posted February 6, 2001 Posted February 6, 2001 Whether using fields or merge blocks, you need to make the layout parts *larger* than the largest possible text you will ever need to print. Then use the sliding/printing options to make them shrink up for records with smaller amounts of information. If the fields or merge blocks are too small the excess text won't be printed out. So make them too big and shrink them down.
