Newbies shweta Posted August 11, 2008 Newbies Posted August 11, 2008 (edited) I have my application hosted on 'Filemaker server 9 advanced'. I am accessing this using FM 9 client machine. I want to save a copy of this database. but this option is disabled when we open any database file from remote. Is there any option to save this DB? Edited August 11, 2008 by Guest
Kris M Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 save the file with your operating system not with FileMaker
Steven H. Blackwell Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 You cannot save a copy of a file while it is hosted. On the Server, first close all files. The stop the FMS service. You can then make a copy of the closed file. [color:red]Do not, repeat NOT, attempt to copy a hosted or otherwise open file at the OS level. This can severely damage the file. HTH Steven

Or, if you don't want to interrupt the other users, use FM Server's Schedules to create a backup of the hosted file, and make a copy of the backup.
