"Print Image" file

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I have a filemaker solution that creates my health claims (aka CMS-1500), and I am attempting to send these health claims to a clearinghouse that process them. They prefer the claims be sent in a Print Image file. How would I got about creating a print image file from Filemaker?

Thanks, Brad

Yeah, I have the same question mark floating over my head. It is a particular file that seems to be produced by various billing softwares. It sounds like some sort of old dot matrix file that is one of the acceptable formats for transmitting medical claims to clearinghouses.

FWIW, I've never heard of a "Print Image" file format. Could they mean TIFF? If so, I believe you could print to PDF and set up an Applescript to tell the Preview app to convert it.

In Windows you can print to a "Microsoft Office Document Image Writer" which will give you plain ol tif file. I wonder if that is what they mean? I know that it was not uncommon for software developers to rely on that capability, a decade or so ago
