Here's the deal. It's a SIMPLE layout, just a bunch of fields. I'm shrinking and sliding up, no problems. However, the fields are running through the page margins, and when I preview and print, the records that cross two pages often will show 1/2 a line on the bottom of one page, and the other 1/2 of the line on the top of the next page. Needless to say, this looks terribly sloppy. Any advice?

Make sure you set 'Fixed page margins' in Layout Mode and set the top and bottom marginsd to be greater than that required by your printer.
