Hello everyone. I would think that this would be a very common task, so hopefully someone will know how to do it!

I have a Firstname and a LastName field (so that records can be sorted by last name) and I want my layout to display a condensed full name without a bunch of extra space between the names if the first name doesn't fill the entire fixed-width box. Easy enough; I can use a calculation field or a merge field, right?

But, I also want the name to be editable.

How can I do both of these things?

Perhaps when you click the name you could show a dialog box with first name, last name input fields.
