We run two daily backups: 12:00 pm and 4:30 pm. We have saved and compacted on an irregular basis in the past to re-establish the backups to a verifying state (irregular being anywhere from two weeks to three days).

I'm starting to see a reduction in time between db's failing verification -- currently once a day (12:00 passes, 4:30 fails, then I save and compact).

Is this the sign of a corrupted file/database? or some other process/failure?

What steps should I be taking to rectify this?

I realize that may be a wide-ranging question, any input is appreciated.

How are you making your backups?

If you are simply copying the file(s) when they are open then you will get unusual results and possible corruptions.

In FMPro you should be using File > Save a Copy As...
