Hello, I am currently evaluating Filemaker Pro 9 to hopefully present solutions to the Executives at my Company. I have been working on different things to show them but I am now stuck. I am looking for a way a Sales person can browse a Catalog of Product and click a button that would add the Product info ( Part #, Description, Cost) to a Quote or Purchase Order. ( Like the way an online shopping cart works) I have created the Catalog and have created the Quote Tables. I also created a table to keep track of items selected as it relates to a quote #. I did also create a portal in the Quote layout and I am able to enter a Part #, press tab and the rest fills in. If anyone can help me out with a sample or explain in basic level terms how to do this I would be very grateful. I have been trying to make this work for a few days now.

Thanks in advance for any and all help.

Hi and welcome to the forum. I would suggest you upload a scaled down copy of your file and perhaps we can see what you are trying to accomplish and what you are having a problem with.

Thanks for responding, I did some looking and called Filemaker as I am on a demo version to evaluate. They pointed me to BPS to check out what they have. The demo version looked good but a little more then what I was looking for so I have been using thier template and modified for my demo. At this point I still cannot get the add from catalog to work. The idea here is that a Project Manager can go to the AV Materials Pick Request and create a new pick. From there they will press a button to add product. From there it will go to the catalog and then they can browse the catalog and select the items they need, this in turn will add the product to the pick request. what would really be great is if they could enter the quanity they wish from the pick catalog. I was able to use portal and enter a part # and it would fill in correctly. I also am using a table for this so that if a price change happens it does not effect already entered orders. I have attached a file with the scripts. The script I am working with is ADD. I appreciate any help you experts can give a beginner, I am sure this product is what our company needs but I need to prove to the correct people that this product can do it.

Thanks Again, Mike

Hi, Is there anyone out there that can help, Filemaker recommended this site and said it was a very useful site, so far not yet. I need to show what this product can do and this "add" button is going to be a big sticking point.

Help Please,

Thanks Mike

You're not making it easy to help you. Perhaps a file like the one here is what you're looking for:

If not, you'll need to provide a more detailed description - perhaps attach a file, like already suggested.

Slightly off-topic: one would think that in order to demonstrate the capabilities of Filemaker, you'd want someone who already knows how to use the product, at least at the basic level. See also:

Sorry, It seems like an easy request, may be you did not read all the threads. I simply want to select products from my products database and have them added to an order. I was thinking a button next to each product that would then ask the quanity once entered it would add to order and would let the user continue.

As for a consultant, first I need to be sure this works and let others know it will it would be a shame to waste someone's time just for a maybe.

Do not worry if this works I plan on using a consultant as I see a bigger use with this product that I do not have time to develop.
