Newbies Marky Marc Posted September 4, 2008 Newbies Posted September 4, 2008 Just upgraded from version 6 to version 8.3 . The Helvetica labels to most of my fields are now garbled and not displaying properly... If I increase the font size its a little better but impossible to edit. The font size is 9. Whats going on?:?
Lee Smith Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 Hi Marky, and welcome to the Forum. A couple of thoughts. When you select the Fields in Layout, what, if any, shows as the Font. Helvetica is one of those Fonts that every Font Foundry made, and when you used it in versions earlier than v7, your computer would substitute a font if it couldn't find yours. In versions v8, the Font used has to be installed, so you might have to change those fields that used Helvetica to your computers installed Helvetica. Be sure you have set your Font smoothing in the system to include size 9. HTH Lee
Newbies Marky Marc Posted September 4, 2008 Author Newbies Posted September 4, 2008 (edited) Thanks Lee, it comes up as Helvetica in the font list. I have hundreds of fields!!! Is there any way I can replace the System Helvetica to one it likes? Marc Edited September 4, 2008 by Guest
Lee Smith Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 It sounds like Helvetica is installed. In Browse Mode, select some type in an offending field, and verify what font it shows. How about the Rendering of size 9? Preferences >> Appearance >> bottom of the menu. You can change multiple fields at the same time by selecting them in Layout Mode. You can change all of them by Selecting All. But do not change the sizes. Lee
Newbies Marky Marc Posted September 9, 2008 Author Newbies Posted September 9, 2008 So Helvetica is installed (thanks!) Smoothing is turned off for 9 or smaller... Size 10 or smaller does not look good, size 12 looks fine. Any furher thoughts??? Can I post a screen shot? Many thanks Marc
Lee Smith Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 Why not just post a copy of the file instead. Just remove any confidential, or senstive data, and add it to a Reply. If this a problem, let me know. Lee
Newbies Marky Marc Posted September 9, 2008 Author Newbies Posted September 9, 2008 Here's a clone of the file. The field names are the problem... Thanks again! Mac 10.5 FMPro 8.03 Xmas_LIst_Clone.fp7.zip
Lee Smith Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 (edited) They display perfectly on my computer. This elimiates a lot of things. Edited September 9, 2008 by Guest
Lee Smith Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 Version 8 is not supported in Leopard. Maybe that is the problem.
