upgrading from 3.0v4 to 8.5v1, how to access Define Fields, Define Scripts?

I'm working with some people and I'm trying to upgrade their database from 3.0v4 to 8.5v1. The database is mission critical, so for testing purposes I grabbed on old backup off their server. I can convert it and open it but I cannot do anything like Define Fields, Define Scripts, layout mode, etc.

I know it's something simple or something stupid, but it's been so long since I dealt with such an old version of FM that I cannot figure out how to make it so I can manipulate stuff in 8.5v1.

At the next opportunity to bring the 3.0v4 database down, I'm going to try turning off "Multi-User" first then quitting the app, then copying the data over to my machine with 8.5v1 and converting. Am I on the right track?

THanks in advance!

Guessing here but it seems like you will need to access it using admin full access privileges. Hold down the shift when the file is open. If the old file did not have a a password you can use 'Admin' as the user and a BLANK entry as the password.

If it did have a password on the file, the user name and password is the whatever admin password was in the old file.

I never used FM3, so YMMV.

Yes and so are misspellings. I am a culprit of both.
