How create a report to print many tables with many records

Featured Replies

Hi:

I am trying to create a report to print a summary from several tables and per each table several records.

I tried using portals but it is messy (does not calculate the break, if the portal does not have enough lines, it does not print all the records, etc, etc).

My Fm version is 6.0.

Thanks in advance,

[color:red]Are these tables related, or are you going for just a summary page pulling totals from many unrelated tables? It's trickier if the tables aren't related -- the underlying table won't display unrelated fields.

You cannot print a summary report displaying records from multiple tables.

If you have FMP 9.0 you can print a summary report from each table separately and append them to a single pdf file.

This might be an indicator that the data structure is not correct: should all the records really be in a single table?

Thanks very much for all your explanation. I will describe you the structure and the printout that the use wants.

The laboratory wants to record all the organ processed and the cells obtained after it. The organ has a unique number (HO#). Each organ can be processed using >= 1 conditions (Conditions Name, ie: CondA, CondB, CondC, etc). The conditions are packaged and send to other labs (Cells, IsltFunc, OCR, Perfusion, SI) which they will process them aswell. The reason of this db is capture the results of these labs. I created the following tables:

HO

Conditions

Cells

IsltFunc

Perfusion

SI

HO 1 - N Conditions

Conditions 1 - 1 Cells

Conditions 1 - 1 IsltFunc

Conditions 1 - 1 Perfusion

Conditions 1 - 1 SI

The printout is like this:

HO#____

Cells

Condition A ...... results

Condition B ...... results

Condition C ...... results

.

.

.

.

IsltFunc

Condition A ...... results

Condition B ...... results

Condition C ...... results

OCR

Condition A ...... results

Condition B ...... results

Condition C ...... results

Perfusion

Condition A ...... results

Condition B ...... results

Condition C ...... results

SI

Condition A ...... results

Condition B ...... results

Condition C ...... results

The report I created, has portals from the tables, but many issues during the printing will make may users reject it.

Thanks very much for your time & help

Thanks.
