Newbies MackyMoto Posted September 17, 2008 Newbies Posted September 17, 2008 This one has me scratching my head. In this case my data comes from the UK in the form of an Excel file. The files are most probably generated from a Windows machine. I process the files using FMPro9 on a Mac and then export them as tab separated .txt file with the data formatted as Windows (ANSI). The vendor I send the files to uses Windows machines and has found that this round of files contains a small percentage of records that contain a lower case a with an accent (or perhaps grave). I don't see that character in either the .txt file I exported or in my FMPro file or in the original Excel file. I do see that the afflicted records have what looks like a space character in the same position. Anyone know what this is or how I can get rid of it?
comment Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 It's probably some non-printing control character. Hard to say more without seeing at least one of the files. See also: http://fmforums.com/forum/showtopic.php?tid/187935/ http://fmforums.com/forum/showtopic.php?tid/193366/
