We have 1 copy of FM Pro 9 and 2 copies of FM Pro 7. One of my Pro 7 copies was upgraded to Pro 7v3a. Does the other copy need to be upgraded to that version as well to avoid errors in the database? Will the database be fine if I don't?

You should DEFINATELY upgrade. 7.01 was pretty unstable.
