How to get FileMaker 6 to run in Mac 10.5

If this isn't news - please ignore - if this helps great! I couldn't find this info before.

My client had been running FileMaker 6 under Mac OS X 10.5 without issue until this week.

All of a sudden she started getting messages about her license already being in use.

I checked and made sure that wasn't the case (no other users connected to server, other machines off, rebooting her machine etc etc) - but she kept getting that message.

I checked that it wasn't corrupt install by reinstalling FileMaker 6 and using different serial number. But she kept getting that message.

Finally I had idea that licensing might be using non standard ports (I have seen others app do that) - and tried using the firewall to block FileMaker.

But blocking firewall obviously prevented FileMaker from seeing the server, so I turned it off again.

But FileMaker 6 started up no problem - no license issues!!

Solution to license issue found - turn firewall on and off (on = "set access for specific services and applications", off = "allow all incoming connections") each time before starting FileMaker 6.

Not elegant - but it works - and gives client a little more time before upgrading to 9.
