I am trying to use a FileMaker file that is saved in an encrypted read/write disk image. However, whenever I try to add data to the database I get the following error:

"There is not enough room on the disk to complete..."

There is plenty of room on the disk image and I can copy other files to the disk image without any problems. It seems to be an issue with FileMaker not liking to write data to files stored in a disk image.

Does anyone have any experience with using disk images and FileMaker. Is what I am trying to do possible?

I'd suggest that it's not a good idea to run a FMP file from a disk image. Copy it to the local hard disk to run it.

Let me step back. I have this file on a laptop for security reasons I would like to store the file on an encrypted disk image. If you don't recommend an encrypted disk image, What do you recommend?

I just created an encrypted r/w disk image (256 bit, 660MB CD) and have no problems adding information. No errors. However the file is small, 4.7 MB. Anything larger and there might be problems when FMP tries to cache data and write to temporary files on the same volume... this might be the problem you're having.

If the file is "production" then I'd not recommend storing it on a disk image. If it needs to be really secure then host it with FM Server.
