External tables in protected directory

I'm thinking about storing my external tables in a password protected directory so that they cannot be accessed by unauthorized people.

How would FMP handle a pathname to the protected directories for the portal relationships?

Why treat them any different?

No one should be allowed direct file access to any FM hosted files
