March 21, 200124 yr FMP5 will "convert" v3 files to v5, allowing you first to save the v3 file (renaming as desired), then to save the v5 file. As far as I can tell, the conversion won't change a thing. You can't "save back", so once a file is v5, it's v5 forever -- of course, you can export the data and import it into a v3 file. Yes, v3 and v5 can live together -- I've got ... well, actually I have v4 and v5, but it amounts to the same thing. HTH, Dan
March 22, 200124 yr Is the upgrade from FM3 to 5 seamless? That is, will 5 seamlessly open FM3 files without changing anything? I have a client that is having problems using 3 under Mac OS8.6 on an imac and from this and other forums (macfixit) it sounds like part of the problem is compatibility (most print crash problems). The client is not very computer savvy nor FM savvy. They have a large membership file that they are nervous about corrupting with an upgrade (and also nervous about learning a "new" program). With this in mind, can 5 and 3 live together on the same hard drive, or does 5 install over the old version. I know 3 can't read 5 files, but if they were to duplicate files before opening in 5, could they still use both on the same system?? Jeff
