Newbies Dennjon Posted December 12, 2008 Newbies Posted December 12, 2008 I'm pretty new at this FM gig, so forgive me if this has been discussed elsewhere. Couldn't find the answer in my searches. I have a client DB (senior daycare) and I need a way to do assessments on each client for each day they attend the activity center. The scenario looks like this: 1)Click on client's name in the DB, 2)click on Daily Assess layout, 3) enter Date, Staff Initials, Assessment Codes for 5 or 10 "types" of activities, and possibly 2 or 3 other similar criteria. In my mind I see a calendar-like grid layout with "fields" for each of the above criteria...for EACH client. Essentially, a 31-day calendar (adjustable to weekly or daily view maybe?) with fill-in blanks or pop-up menus for EVERY client in our system (200+). At first blush this sounds simple to me (for an app like FMP) and yet I don't understand how to get from the individual record to the individual calendar/matrix for that client. I have read up on portals and understand the theory of them but I haven't seen an example similar to our application. Any help pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated!
Lee Smith Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 Hi Dennjon, and welcome to he Forum. So far you have described Bento, and iCal. Actually, there are some some solutions that you might be interested in, some are Free Resources, and others are Commercial products done in FileMaker. I would start with the Free Stuff at, http://www.seedcode.com/ Also, check out our Resource Topic Area Link And the Product Announcements Topic Area http://fmforums.com/forum/showforum.php?fid/85/keyword/products/ If I recall correctly, there was a recent upgrade to Schedula announced, and I think Appointments 1. There are also some downloads at FileMaker Inc. that might fit your needs, look at the Donations one for Ideas. You might want to also do a Google Search for your keywords. HTH Lee
