PDF Link/Container

Featured Replies

Searched around and was not able to find anything on this that seemed to help.

Client has a bunch of paper forms and wants them in FM. Short of creating a whole new set of databases (some of the forms have 70+ data elements), I'm thinking it would be easier to simply get the paper into PDF on the server then use a container field to point to them. Clicking on the container field will open the PDF.

Is this possible? How?

Yes, you can easily import a pdf into a container field, either as a reference or stored in the file. Double-click a ref and it'll open your Reader. Or export a container and open in Reader.

But, containers aren't searchable, unless you add some fields for keywords, title, date, author, etc. Are you sure the client doesn't need a database?
