I format some text in a calculation field like this:

If ( not IsEmpty ( Line1 ) ;

TextStyleAdd ( "On Line 1 we have " ; Bold )

& Line1 & ¶ )

You see the TextSyle only if you click on the field.

Do you know a solution to show the format without clicking on the field?

thank you!

I'm afraid I don't quite understand. Which field do you click on to display the calculation? How can the calculation display ANYTHING if the field is empty? Your calculation says only produce ANY result if if is not. It doesn't matter if the calculation is text or number; it doesn't matter if 'Do not evaluate if all referenced fields are empty; it doesn't matter whether the calculation is unstored or not.

There is more here than we are being told. Do you have many lines that you are putting together in this calculation and you must click on a standard field (size approx. 16 px.) to display the entire calculation? A calculation will not automatically expand to display all of the result within it ... you must make the calculation field large enough to hold the entire possible result.

If that isn't your issue, we will simply need more information or a small sample file to understand what you mean. :wink2:

Thank you very much LaRetta!

your question helped me very much. I made an example file. And doing it I found the mistake: The calculation field must be on text modus to show the format without clicking.

I checked also the textsize. I told the field to have a scrollbar. So it is a scrollable calculation field.

For all others who might have the same problem I attach the example file .
