January 27, 200917 yr I have a number of clients using databases, hosted out from a dedicated server machine. All our servers have fmserver backups on, creating hourly backups on the hour every hour. For some reason on a number of our sites backups have begun to fail (not all at the same time!). I know this can be due to corrupt files so this afternoon 1 particular client was unhosted, all the files were saved as compacted and rehosted (there should be no corruption anyway as I always follow best practice). I had previously done this to another client suffering the same issues and it sorted the problem but has not done here..... What other issues can cause Fmserver backups to fail?: Is it worth re-installing the fmserver app??? What can I do?!?!?!? HELP!!!
January 27, 200917 yr Are you okay with space on the server? Do you have any other processes running on the server at the same time, perhaps virus scan? Have you checked the log files? You may also want to try and get an older clone copy of your files and import the current data into it to see if will help.
January 27, 200917 yr Author AHA! Solved!!! If you have this issue besides compacting the files try reapplying the permissions to the backups folder!! NOW IT WORKS! Event though the permissions were ok in the first place.....
January 27, 200917 yr Author Thanks mr vodka! I have only just discovered where the log file is........oh dear
January 27, 200917 yr You may want to take a look at the Server Tech Brief on the FMI web site. Steven
