Global field not working

I have a FMP6...yes I know outdated, but...

have global fields that contain starting and finishing dates dates used for inserting a school term date in another field.

In 2008 I changed the gloabl field dates to 2008 dates and the DB worked fine.

This year I changed the dates in the global fields but if I exit the DB and return the dates revert to the 2008 dates.

What am I doing worng?
