funkatudinal Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 Hi, Trying to install FMS on a server (Windows Server 2003) with sharepoint already installed, not able to start the web publishing with IIS. Can I put them on the same server? Should i install Apache for FMS instead? Or is it all just a big, bad idea? thanks for your help!
Steven H. Blackwell Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 Pretty much a bad idea. Share Point and FileMaker Server do not play nicely with one another, in part due to port conflicts. Put FMS and maybe the WPE on its own box. You can use the IIS from the Share Point box. Or, put FMS on one box, and the WPE and IIS on a second box. There are other configuration scenarios as well. All are covered in the Admin manuals that come with the products. IIS is used for Windows FileMaker Server configurations. Apache is used for Macintosh versions. FMS does not work with Apache on Windows as of the present time. That could change maybe in the future, but for now it's as I described. Steven
