Is it ok to take a zip copy from an open served file?

When I leave work at night, I like to take home a current backup, rather than the most recent 'on-the-hour' backup from the backup folder.

I just discovered that I can make a zip file of a currently running (FMS hosted) file, without stopping the file with the admin console.

That means I don't have to run the admin console, stop the file, make a copy, then restart it.

Is this an ok thing to do or am I asking for trouble?

Thanks,

Phil (aka Lazy Bastard)

[color:red] No, No. and No.

am I asking for trouble?

[color:red] You are guaranteeing corruption of both the backup and likely of the live files as well.

Have FMS run a backup to a designated directory and then take that with you.

Thanks. I definitely won't take that shortcut.
