Help, Relationship Tables are all gone

Featured Replies

I came in this morning and all the windows in my db are empty, at first look it seemed like the data was all gone. The tab under manage database, relationships, it is totally empty. When I open scripts, they show

thanks

I hope you have a back up. It sounds as though someone changed your External Sources. I did this to myself once and had to rebuild everything, not fun.

As far as I know there is nothing to do other than rebuild your relationships unless you have backed up your files.

This database has only a few external sources. The great majority is all contained within. Since the relational tables are all missing. There is no way to view any data.

With all we can copy and paste, and the critical importance of the relationship tables, why can't those be copied or imported?

FileMaker are you listening ?

(sigh, likely not . . . )

Usually by going in to File->Manage->External Sources. When I did it I deleted the current data file location before entering the new data file location.

As I said that's the only thing I can think of that would cause such a problem. Do you have a back up?

Are you using FMS? If so, you should have a back up routine installed as well. If you are not using FMS I would suggest you install a Closing script where you back up your file every time it is closed.

Thanks and yes we are on FMS and have a backup. I am recovering the db, just a bit surprised that this could happen, and that there is no way to recover the relational table.

thanks again,

mike
