FMSA10 and ESS. Do I need to install ODBC on every single client..???

Featured Replies

I'm trying to work with a MySQL data source within FM. I installed the ODBC driver on the Windows Sever running FM and created a System DSN successfully.

I then open up FM Pro on a client machine that opens the FM files hosted on the server. I go into Manage -> External Data Sources and select DSN but nothing shows up.

Do I have to create a DSN on every client that uses this? I sure hope not. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Do you happen to have this install running on a 64bit install of windows?

Yes. I'm using the x64 ODBC driver, though, and I also made sure to use the older 3.5 driver.

We went ahead and installed Win2k8 x64 on the server which according to FM techs is fully supported. Do I still need to install the 3.5 ODBC driver for MySQL, though, or will it work with the new one now?

Right sorry, haven't checked this thread in a while.

Try installing the 32 bit MySQL driver using the 32 bit odbc manager (you'll find it at C:WindowsSysWow64odbcad32.exe)

Then try again.

With MySQL you just need to open the 32 Bit ODBC Administrator on the 64-bit Machine and create your DSN. Then you will see it in FileMaker. Although it runs on a 64-bit Machine, it is still 32-bit native.
