I installed FM Server 9 on an Intel Mac running OS X Tiger 10.4.11 fully updated to what's current. The Admin Console won't run. This is on a LAN at a university - hard-wired, not wireless. I am afraid I don't have experience with FM 9 server and am not sure how to get this to run so the databases can be set up. Thanks for any help you can provide. Let me know if you need any other info from my end.

OK - got some information elsewhere saying the following: "make sure you are running Java 6 update 7. If you have a more recent version, FileMaker Server will not run." We are required to keep the Mac OS fully updated, so there is no option to downgrade Java. As such, does that mean we have to upgrade to FM 10 server (clients, too?)? Does that resolve the issue with Admin Console that exists with FM 9 server?

You can change the order that Java versions are used in the Java app. Look in your Applications folder (or your Utilities folder. I am not in front of my Mac right now so the answer will be a bit vaugue)

The admin console is very picky about the Java version.

You can do all of your set up using the command line interface (CLI) it isn't pretty but you can do most all functions with that. (although I have never SET UP a server using CLI)
