Arny Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 I'm interested in integrating a 'realtime' barcode scanner [intermec] into my FMP 8.5 inventory control system. Has this been done, or where should I look to find out more about how to accomplish this? I think I can use a 'wedge' reader without problem, but also want to have interactive data transfer from the warehouse locations that are over 100 ft from the computer system. Any advice is more than welcome.
Wim Decorte Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 It all depends on what APIs Intermec has to offer. From the FM side you can work with plugins (like the Troi serial plugin) or with FM's ActiveX interface. The biggest question you need to answer is: where do I want my code to be? Could be that it far easier to code in something like VB or C or C#... depending on what Intermec has to offer. Or it could be that there are existing plugins that will let you keep all your code in FM. Maybe someone will chime in about past experiences with Intermec. But waiting for that you need to investigate what you can get out of Intermec.
Arny Posted March 16, 2009 Author Posted March 16, 2009 Thanks . . I'll get in touch with Intermec and see what I can find.
