merkaba22 Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 FM 6 client software on an eMac running 10.4.11 as a server TCP/IP enabled. Each Mac set with a static IP can see eMac with a static IP through GO > Connect to Server; each Mac can ping eMac. No Mac can the the FileMaker files (open) via Remote, either Local or with IP address specified. Ideas?
Vaughan Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 Are you running FM Pro and FM Server on the same machine? This is obviously related to your previous question. Try opening the necessary ports. Oh, and don't have file sharing enabled, it sounds like you do. You do NOT want the files shared by both AFP and FMS at the same time... BOOM! ;(
merkaba22 Posted March 31, 2009 Author Posted March 31, 2009 (edited) No, I know better to run them at the same time -- thanks. I am not sure at all how to "open the ports" -- this must be in 5.5 Server software but I have checked the prefs and don't see where that can be arranged -- further, what setting(s) would one use? In the last observation, I am confused -- it was my understanding that one must enable TCP/IP on FM 6 to get other clients on the network to see the host or is it that "file sharing" on the eMac must be off when TCP/IP is enable on FM 6 -- sorry to be so dense.
