IP address in Outgoing SMTP Server

Just moving to FM10 and I cannot get the SMTP settings to accept an IP address. It refuses to accept IP address format after the second 'period'. Ideas?

I don't think it wants an IP, but rather a name "outgoing.verizon.net" , for example.
