I am trying to install FMP Server 10 on a brand new Dell 2.5ghz dual quad core processor machine with 8gb of ram.

I get all the way through the install process where it tells me it will launch the Admin Console to complete the server setup. That's where it dies and tells me that the database needs to be restarted. When I click on the restart button it fails and tells me to contact my network administrator... guess who that is.. ME! I've installed many times on a Mac with no problems at all.

I've read where I need to have Java 6 update 7, so I've made sure that I got that up and running. I am under the gun for a huge project due June 29th and if I don't get this server running soon I may lose my job over it. Does anyone have a clue what else I can try?

Thanks,

First, make sure you have all the necessary ports open that you need to.

Second, Do you have another computer on the same network? If so, try to go to the server on port 16000

Also, you can try to use command lines to start the server.

That's where it dies and tells me that the database needs to be restarted.

First, welcome to th Forums.

That message quoted doesn't make sense in the context of what you are doing during an install. Are you sure that is what it says?

Also, is this the 64 bit version of the OS or the 32 bit version?

When I say it "dies" I mean that's as far as I get. It won't finish the installation until the Admin Console opens.

The server is using the 64 bit version.

Also, since writing this response I've gone back to the server and uninstalled/re-installed.

This time I get a totally different error when trying to start the admin console... I get a window that says "Java Web Start Launcher has stopped working."

I uninstalled Java and flushed the cache. Re-installed and for a few seconds things looked like I was making progress... Now I get a new error.

"The admin console cannon establish a connection to the admin server."

I stopped the server via commands, restarted and I get the same error.
