Making checkbox or radio buttons more visibly apparent

I'm having a hard time discerning whether a checkbox or radio button has been selected.

The image on the screen is very faint.

Is there a way make these graphics more robust?

Would really like them to be bright red if selected.

If that is too much to ask I would be content with just making them a little easier to see.

Any ideas?

In layout mode, select the checkbox / radio button set.

If you make the text bigger, the checkboxes / buttons get bigger. You can also apply line colour and line weight to them to make them more prominent.
