BAZ Posted February 22, 2001 Posted February 22, 2001 I have my FM Server 5 installed on an NT 4.0 server, and almost everyday I take a backup on my filemaker files. In order to do that I close all the filemaker files, and I stop the FileMaker service, and then take the backup. The problem is, everytime I stop the service, I have to give a different name to the server for the remote administration ; otherwise, at the client machine I cannot open the server for remote administration. I feel that there is something wrong, and I'm starting to run out of names for the server...does anyone have an idea about what could be wrong. Thank You
DykstrL Posted February 22, 2001 Posted February 22, 2001 You don't have to close the hosted files or stop the FMS service. Use the Back Up Databases task in the Management Console. It will back up all of the databases in the FMS folders into a separate folder - all without closing the files or stopping FMS service. Then you can back up that folder.
