FMP Server software & Web Publishing?

Featured Replies

Hi:

I am experimenting with Instant Web Publishing and can't find if this can be accomplished using FMP Server Software or if the databases need to be hosted using a client (stand alone ) version of FMPro?

Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Thank you,

FMP Server does NOT do any web hosting, nor should you run any web serving software on the same machine.

FMP Client does allow web sharing of files via the Web Companion plugin. However it is limited to access from something like 10 unique IP addresses in any 12 hour period.

FMP Unlimited does not have such a limitation and is the preferred method of access. Basically you setup a simgle machine running FMP Unlimited, open the databases from the FMP Server and you are now able to access them via the web (assuming of course that you have done either the Instant or Custom web publishing and your web pages are setup to connect to the databases).
