first use of fm server 9

Featured Replies

I'm trying to use fm server 9 for the first time. when I launch the admin console, i just get "deployment assistant" in my task bar, but nothing comes up when i click on it; if i right click and click maximize, i just get a gray screen, and this is even if i wait an hour. i tried restarting my computer, but it didn't help.

I'm really just trying to use the php conversion.

Update: i'm thinking it could have to do with incompatibility with java 6. i'm trying to downgrade to java 5.

Update: i don't think that helped

Update: I need help. From what I've been reading, it seems pretty clear that the problem has to do with java. When I downgraded to version 5, the filemaker server start page acted as if java wasn't installed at all. I went back up to version 6 and i'm getting the same problem of the blank deployment assistant screen. I guess next i'll try version 6 update 8. It sounds like maybe incompatibility started at update 10.

Update: yea; i can still use help. I installed version 6 update 7 (i saw no update 8 or 9), and it still acted as if java wasn't installed at all. i really don't know what to do.

nevermind. i think i solved it. before, i was trying google chrome, opera, and IE, all with the same result. When i installed version 6 update 7, i tried with google chrome first, and wasn't expecting anything different with a different browser, but it ended up working with IE
