My task has two parts and I can't get either part to work!

I have records sorted by SORTER field in a nice FMP layout that looks just like xl template.

When I export to xl, using "Grouped by" SORTER and exporting all field onlayout, it just exports the first record per SORTER (eg. if "GROUP A" has 2 records it will only export the first, GROUP B also just the first, etc. So that's not working.

Then, there's the template issue. Is there a way to export into an existing template, or is the solution still to do it in XL by populating xl template with data exported from fmp to xl...

Any help most welcome!

Re the first part, I'm not sure what you expect to accomplish. Grouping is supposed to do exactly what you describe: it exports one record per group. This is useful for exporting summaries, for example.

Re the template, it's possible (though not quite easy) to export as XML using a custom XSLT stylesheet, producing an Excel 2002/3 XML file.
