Using FM5 to Host and FM4 to access.

If I use FM Server 5 to host the databases, will that have any impact on the databases being hosted?

I know that if you install FM 5.5 on a workstation and open an FM4 file it will convert it to FM5.5 and this is not backward compatible. which would mean that users will not be able to open the database without using FM5.5

Thanks in advance

FM Server 5 has the same requirements. I don't remember if FM Server 5 automatically converts files, but it will only host FM 5 files. You also can't use FM 4 to access files hosted on FM 5 Server. FM 5.0 and FM 5.5 share a file format and should interoperate.
