FM Server 5 won't start

Featured Replies

All I did was restart the NT 4 box. FMS 5 simply won't start, either thru the services applet, or thru command line. I even uninstalled FMS, re-installed NT service pack 6, and re-installed FMS 5.

I also changed file permissions on the complete drive, giving 'Everyone' full access.

anyone have any ideas what things stop a FM server from starting up?

Our Server Master guy will be able to help probably and it will be reasonable charge.

Thank u for the offer. But I've already rebuilt to NT workstation and FM Server from scratch. Although I would've preferred to find out what was causing it from not starting in the 1st place.

anyways, it's all working again.

cheers,

Echo

Great!

So you are running FMS on workstation? Maybe something in service pack 6? Really, I am just guessing.

How it is running on workstation? Is it fast?

No its not something in service pack 6, because it was running fine with SP6 before. I don't know what went wrong. I rebuilt the box with NT 4 and SP6 as before. I did not install IE 5.5 this time, instead installed IE4.01, as IE 5.5 breaks the management console for FMS.

The NT box is Celeron 300, 64Mb Ram, 850Mb HDD.

FMS is hosting 15 files for an average of 9 Filemaker users.

The users aren't complaining of any speed problems, so I guess they're happy with it.

Thank you.

Yes, we are also running older IE (possibly 5).
