Newbies sternsheet Posted August 14, 2009 Newbies Posted August 14, 2009 (edited) Still trying to understand join tables, and need help. The idea is to chop a many to many relationship in half so that the join table gives a one to many in each direction. That much I understand. You end up with a join table that has loads of one to many relationships, in each direction. But who creates the records in the join table? Do you have to do this manually, or can filemaker do it for you? Each join line has a box that allows you to allow the creation (and deletion) of records in the foreign key table (the join table in this case). But is this an automatic process, or do I have to set up a form to create each record? I'm completely stuck trying to work all of this out. Edited August 14, 2009 by Guest
comment Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Perhaps a demo can make this clearer: http://www.fmforums.com/forum/showpost.php?post/246136/ Note that this shows only one way (the simplest one) out of many possible, to handle the user interface.
