Hello people, I need a little help.

Up to now, our small business have always used one database with FileMaker pro 5. Of course, some businesses grow, like ours, and now I have to make sure that all computers can access the database.

I just want to know if the server version will let me share the same file simultaniously with all the other computers. If so, I presume that I will need filemaker pro 5 licenses on all the other nodes? Finally, can I have it (server) run on win98?

Thanks for your time.

ps. sorry for the obvious lack of grammar skills, I'm not english.

Yes, the server version of FileMaker shares Fm dbs on a network but requires a TRUE server (NT or WIN 2000).

Using a WIN 98 machine as HOST (not TRUE server) you can also share the db, obviously with less performances & admin. tools.

If your corporate db is important to you, seriously consider the first option.

Regards

I will first try:

a) Serve users from FM client. FM client can be server for up to 10 FM clients.

: Go for FM server. It will be faster.

b1) host that on NT workstation

b2) host that on NT server.

Remember that your data is more expensive, than any hardware/software.
