I want a remote web user to be able to input data (a value list field) into one field only. I have tried everything I could think of in Accounts and Privileges but when they access the database they cannot change the field. ANY IDEAS?:?? I'm self taught in FileMaker and sometime you need to know the answer in order to do a search that will result in logical results.

Thanks for any recommendations.

Not sure if you already have an answer. (And for that matter, if I'm understanding correctly, so I apologize if I misunderstand what you're saying.) But is a layout specifically for the web user an option? If so, either show only that field on the layout, or if you have to display other fields, configure the field behavior for those fields so that it cannot be entered in browse or find modes.
