Newbies Rhyder Posted September 9, 2009 Newbies Posted September 9, 2009 Hello all I am very new to Filemaker, had it a few days. I have been tasked with creating a Data Capturing interface for a Film Shoot. I have managed to create it the data capture interface successfully. Yet now that it is up and running I have a problem. I am approx. 300 records/Entries in and I noticed that my FM file size was over 100MB. This is because when I have been inserting an image I have not been ticking the “Store only a reference file” in the “insert file” interface. So my question is twofold: 1) Can I turn my stored images into reference images with having to re-insert them 2) Can I make a global rule that it will by default it will insert future images as a reference file only Thank you all very much
bcooney Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 What is the setup? Multiple clients with FMServer? Any shared volumes? Referenced images require that all clients can see the volume on which the images are stored. Do you have such a setup? You also could take a look at SuperContainer from 360works. Yes, you can write a script that will change the embedded files to references. But first you have to determine where you'll store the images. There are many threads on this on the forum.
