Connecting to a MAC FMP Server using WIN XP

Featured Replies

I am located in the same subnet with no routers in between my and the FMP server. I am running the operating system windows XP professional. Everything appears to be loading correctly. A wrinkle has however developed. I downloaded an evaluation version of FMP 5.5 and everything

work correctly. So now the question is why does it not work with FMP 5.0?

Eric

Check networking protocol selected under FMP 5. It MUST be TCP/IP to connect to a MAc OS server.

Also--althought I think your comment on FMP 5.5 answered this--you are sure files on server are set to Multi-User and not Multi-user HIDDEN.

I cannot connect to our file maker pro server which is running on a MAC when using my WIN XP notebook. I know that my network settings are correct. I can ping the server. However when I try to open hosts nothing shows up! I also tried to specifiy the server and that did not work either. Any suggestions?

Hi Eric,

Is TCP/IP loading ok when you launch the FileMaker app? Are your XP client and Mac FMServer on the same subnet, or might there be routers in between?

Please clarify as well. Is this a laptop running WindowsXP (the OS from Microsoft) or is this one of the WinbookXP laptops (from Winbook or Gateway or something)?
