Newbies jgates Posted January 15, 2002 Newbies Posted January 15, 2002 I've got a db that is saved on a file server. It's rather large - at least *I* would say it is. (You may think otherwise.) Today it has started to tell me that it is opening the file as Read Only. When I drag a copy to my desktop I can open that copy. When I try to replace the server version it tells me that it's in use. It sounds to me as though the server THINKS it's in use and it really isn't. Any ideas on how I can correct it?
Kurt Knippel Posted January 15, 2002 Posted January 15, 2002 My guess is that someone has this file opened. They probably opened the file via network file sharing. This is especially evidant given the fact that you are copying the file between the server and you own workstation. Does anyone have access to the volume that this file is on? Only Filemaker Server should have access to the volume, put it on the machines local drive and do NOT share it. Users should ONLY have access to the database via the Hosts button in Filemaker and NOT through file sharing.
