FMP Server 5.0 On Win 2000 Server?

Featured Replies

Will FMP Server 5.0 run on Win 2000 Server? When I purchased the program, it did not say it would or wouldn't, but the manual had instructions for Server 2000. I want to upgrade my server from NT to 2000. If it won't work, and I purchase server 5.5, will I also have to purchase FMP 5.5 for each of my clients or will FMP 5 be able to run off of server 5.5?

Server 5.5 and FMP 5.0 work just fine in combination. Certain 5.5 features won't be available for those clients. of course.

If using the international English version of Server 5 on Windows NT 4 Server, use either SP 5 or SP6A. SP6 had some issues relating to server cache as I recall.

W2K Server--not W2K professional, is an excellent and stable platform for FM Server 5.5. Disable ALL unneeded other services, and do not run stuff such as terminal Services or IIS.

See the info on the FMI site related to FM Server Best practices.

It is not recommended. Windows server 2000 has so many unresolved issues. Still the best server is NT4 sp6.

You'll be probably OK to run FM5 clients from FM5.5 server.
