Okay, so we now have about 25 databases, 1/2 of which are used just by me (or the person who*fingers crossed* replaces me when i go solo in 3 months). The other 1/2 are served via web and increasingly over the LAN. Right now, FMP unlimited 5 being run on dual processor G4. Will be looking to get FMP Server to accomodate my desire to work from home and to increase use of FMP vs web within the office. At my disposal:

g4 dual processor

g4 single processor

g3

os x server

How best to configure? Can I do this on only 2 computers? All help desired, as the hardware end of life is the most unknown to me. Thanks.

Bevin

Here is the best configuration to accomidate LAN/Web/Remote Access.

1 G4 running FMP Server.

1 workstation running FMP Unlimited.

- Make sure that these are SEPERATE machines, Dual processor matter not one bit.

1 workstation running Timbuktu for EACH remote system.

1 copy of FMP running on each LAN workstation, including the Timbuktu machine.

1 copy of Timbuktu running on each remote machine.

Filemaker Server hosts all of the databases; FMP Unlimited opens them from the FMServer and makes them available to the Web; LAN users (inlcuding Timbuktu) open the database via Filemaker Pro.

Your remote machines connect to the internal Timbuktu machines via Timbuktu and from there on operate them as if you were sitting in front of that terminal.
