Launching SuperContainerServer.jar from withing FMP 10

Featured Replies

I'm sure that this is pretty simple to do, but how can I automatically launch SuperContainerServer.jar from within the Mac version of FMP 10? Since it isn't an application the Send Event function doesn't work. Does this require an Apple script?

For Windows I assume it is a simple batch file but I can't test that since I can't get SuperContainer to work on my pre-release version of Windows 7. Hopefully when that problem will be resolved when I get the official release later this month.

Thanks,

Will

You will need to create an applescript if you wish to launch SuperContainer server when you launch filemaker. If you like, you can install SuperContainer with either FileMaker Server or as part of a Tomcat deployment so that you do not need to use the supercontainerserver.jar deployment at all. This way, supercontainer will always be running in the background and available as long as your computer is on.

SuperContainer is compatible with the full release of Windows 7.

How do I check from a FM script whether SC server is already running?

I ask because trying to run it a second time causes errors, and it's getting launched multiple times every time my start-up script is run by a different user logging in.

Adrian,

You can check if SC server is running by using one of the function calls in the SC plugin. I think it is SCVersion that will return a ? if the server is not online. I'm not sure how you could do it without the plugin.
